Stefan and Damon
Most die-hard fans of TVD express that the best relationship in the show wasn’t romantic at all, but the one between two brothers-Stefan and Damon Salvatore. Lets just say that if the saying “between love and hate is a fine line” was a picture these two would show up. Both killed by their father, manipulated by the woman they love, and forced to live eternity with each other, no matter how the two fight, they always end up right back where they started; together. Plus, the moments where these two are getting along or have to team up…epic.
Caroline and Klaus
Is someone playing Crazy In Love by Rhianna because Klaus has got it BAD for Caroline and everyone knows it! Yes, technically Klaus is a very bad guy and wants to kill most of Carolines friends, but from the moment he saw her he was totally crazy about her. Funnily enough, Klaus’ advancements go unnoticed or are outright rejected by Caroline, only making him like her more. Throughout the show we see Klaus’ romantic efforts slowly chip away while Caroline fights it off. This relationship can be funny at times too, as Carolines friends start to use her as actual “Klaus bait” and Caroline is gifted a dress that belong to a real monarch.
Damon and Elena
“Wait, I thought Stefan and Elena were dating” …about that. This relationship is pretty complicated and super forbidden for the first couple seasons of the show. Needless to say, people change and so do Elenas feelings once she starts to uncover the truth about the two brother’s pasts. Furthermore, Damon falls in love with Elena making him want to be better and well… kill less people? So really is win-win!
Caroline and Stefan
When Caroline and Stefan first meet Caroline’s crush on Stefan gets rejected and she moves on to date Elenas ex-boyfriend Matt. During Carolines transition into vampirism, the two bond over the struggles of drinking blood and become great friends. We are then gifted with several seasons of these two being besties just for the last season to reveal they’re getting married?! Regardless, these two are super cute and a great team.
Damon and Alaric
Interestingly, Damon and Alaric begin as enemies in the show. Because Alaric suspects that Damon killed his wife, Isabella, Alaric plans on killing Damon to avenge her. Later in the show Alaric learns that Isabella asked Damon to turn her into a vampire and mind-controlled Alaric to believe she was dead. Damon and Alaric then are forced to team up to save Stefan and Elena and the two bond over being the “Adults” of the group. Their relationship grows so deep that Damon often visits Alaric’s grave after his death to talk to him.
